Andreas Happe wrote a simple guide on how to encrypt your home directory or USB sticks with Linux. Some time ago I blogged about Encrypted Linux on USB key, which uses the same encrypting solution, LUKS.

Wouldn’t it be better just to use FreeBSD and follow the directions here http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/disks-encrypting.html ?

cryptsetup and gbde/geli seem to have a similar approach to encryption. Why would it be better?
